Description:

The 4DMED-Hydrology project aims to develop an advanced, high-resolution, and consistent reconstruction of the Mediterranean terrestrial water cycle, by highlighting the potential of high-resolution ESA satellite products for: 1) describing and resolving the Mediterranean water cycle in its main components to better understand their relative contribution and provide a way to describe via a unique framework the “health” of the hydrological Mediterreaneansystem. 2) advancing the Earth’s system science by studying the strength of the land-atmosphere interactions, the human disturbance on the water cycle and the availability of water resources (i.e., snow and groundwater) in the MediterreaneanRegion. 3) testing the ability of new EO to predict hydrology extremes (floods, landslides and drought) and managing water resources to create a closer link between science and society via science-based tools compatible with decision making processes.
