Research interest


The research activity mainly regards:

  1. stochastic generation of spatially distributed rainfall;
  2. design flood estimation for water management and flood hazard assessment;
  3. analysis of climate change effects on flood frequency;
  4. hydraulic risk assessment;
  5. levee hydraulic vulnerability assessment.

Recently, the research activity has also regarded the analysis of satellite rainfall data for hydrological applications.

Biography


Stefania Camici was born in L’Aquila, in 1983. She took her M.S. degree in in Environmental Engineering with excellence at the University of Perugia in April 2008. From October 2008 she is a collaborator of the Research Institute for Geo-Hydrological Protection – National Research Council (IRPI – CNR) in Perugia (Italy). Specifically, she received a Scholarship and successively a Research Fellowship to carry out research on the topic “Hydrological Monitoring of Extreme Events”. Since September 2012, she has been a Researcher at IRPI-CNR. In February 2016 she received her PhD in Hydraulic Engineering at University of Perugia. The title of her thesis is “The Impact of Climate Change on Extreme Discharge”.

Models


FARIMA

The Fractionally differenced ARIMA model (FARIMA) model for the generation of synthetic temperature data was made freely available here. The code is written in the MATLAB® programming language and is fully commented. The description of the model structure and of its performance can be found in Camici et al. (2011).

Neyman-Scott Rectangular Pulse Model

The Neyman-Scott Rectangular Pulse (NSRP) model for the generation of synthetic rainfall data was made freely available here. The code is written in the MATLAB® programming language and is fully commented. The description of the model structure and of its performance can be found in Camici et al. (2011), Tarpanelli et al. (2012) and Brocca et al. (2013).
